Hello WCC Community!
Welcome, welcome (back) to a new academic year! We hope that you had a wonderful, restful, and rejuvenating summer. Our staff is looking forward to welcoming you into our space with plenty of great opportunities to get to know the WCC and start building community. The WCC is a space that centers intersectionality, gender equity, and collective liberation and we welcome those with various backgrounds and identities to engage and find community with us.
We also want to acknowledge that we are still in the throes of multiple global conflicts and continue to feel the effects of systemic inequalities. All that we’re holding and navigating right now feels indicative of a rising global consciousness and a resistance to outdated paradigms. As we enter the fall and the upcoming elections, we will continue to see and feel the impact of these pivotal moments unfolding. Please know that in these uncertain times, the WCC strives to be a place where you can be yourself, process how you are feeling, and find care and community with others.
The WCC is also excited to share some of our upcoming events and opportunities this fall where you will have a chance to meet new folks, learn more about the WCC, and ways to get involved! Please be sure to sign up for our WCC - Announce List and/or follow us on Instagram - @stanfordwcc to receive more info about our upcoming opportunities, which includes:
WCC Intern Applications
WCC STEM Mentoring Applications (for undergraduate mentees and graduate student mentors)
WVSO Leadership Welcome Dinner
WCC Fall Gathering
…and more!
What about the WCC Space?
The WCC space will be available for folks to come in, study, engage in events, host meetings, hang out, etc. Our doors will generally be open on Monday-Friday from 10am - 6pm. If you haven't already, please reach out to Rawley Clark (rawley@stanford.edu), our WCC Alumni Fellow, to connect about our upcoming welcome dinner, training for space usage, and space access.
Whether you’re stopping by to chill, hangout, or study on our couches, attending a WCC event or a WVSO meeting, or even just coming in to say hi and grabbing some snacks or swag, we are looking forward to seeing and being in community with you all!
Again, welcome (back) to campus. We sincerely hope that you’re able to find moments of calm and grounding. Please know that we’re here to support you and welcome your ideas for engagement throughout the year as we co-create worlds we wish to see.
In solidarity,
Faith, Alicia, Dejah, and Rawley
