WCC Internship Program

The WCC Intern Program is designed to allow for a fun and flexible opportunity for Stanford students to engage with the Stanford Women’s Community Center. Interns will shadow a staff member in one of our many program areas.

More About the WCC Intern Program

While each intern will shadow a particular program, there is a high degree of flexibility in WCC programming, allowing interns to pursue their own areas of interest throughout their time with the WCC. Interns are primarily responsible for helping their staff mentor with their WCC work, but will  also be asked to work on an independent Intern Project during the school year, with guidance from the Intern Coordinator and the staff mentor. In addition, interns should expect to find and contribute to a vibrant community of co-interns and staff members through social events and teamwork on projects

Internship Requirements

  • Passionate about the WCC's mission of promoting scholarship, leadership, and activism in the Stanford community
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • 2-3 hours with the WCC per week working with a WCC student staff member
  • Participation in one Intern Project during the school year
  • Presence at 1-2 WCC event per quarter (or more)
  • No prior knowledge or experience is required

We Aim to Provide Interns With

  • A warm introduction to the WCC
  • An empowering and inclusive sense of community and belonging on campus
  • Meaningful co-curricular involvement
  • The opportunity to explore issues of gender, equity and social justice in a safe and non-judgmental environment
  • A mentoring relationship with a WCC student staff member that they shadow
  • An opportunity to design a project that will publicize a subject of interest to the larger Stanford community
  • Training, team-building, and professional development exercises and activities
  • Interns will receive a small stipend

Note: WCC internships are Federal Work-Study eligible or interns can choose to gain one unit a quarter for three quarters with the Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Department.
