WCC STEM Mentorship Program

The WCC STEM Mentorship Program supports students in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics in academic and professional pursuits at Stanford and beyond. Supports and helps build the emerging network of women and gender marginalized STEM students, programs, and student groups on campus. In addition, we hope to provide relevant resource material and programming for all Stanford students interested in pursuing  a STEM related major and/or career.

Programs

​Programs supporting Gender Marginalized students in STEM include: ​

  • A year-long WCC STEM mentoring program, launched in the 2017-18 academic year, which pairs undergraduate and graduate women in STEM fields for long-term mentoring relationships
  • A STEM panel during Admit Weekend for prospective students interested in STEM, featuring current undergraduate students in STEM
  • ​A faculty panel during New Student Orientation featuring prominent faculty in STEM

WCC STEM Mentoring Program​

The WCC STEM Mentoring Program (formerly known as the Women in STEM Mentoring Program) is a collaboration between Women’s Community Center and the Office of the Vice Provost for Graduate Education to bring undergraduate and graduate students together in a group mentoring program geared towards meeting the needs of sophomores, juniors, and seniors in science, engineering, and math fields as they explore post-baccalaureate opportunities. All gender marginalized students in STEM are encouraged to apply!

The goals of this program are to

  1. Make a connection between undergraduates embarking on graduate school applications and exploring post-grad opportunities, with current graduate students who have recently completed the process and can provide support and guidance.
  2. Demystify the graduate school application and selection process.
  3. Create a support system for women in STEM to alleviate stressors related to being a member of an underrepresented population in their respective fields.​​

​Undergraduates (Potential Mentees)

Are you a current undergraduate student at Stanford in a STEM discipline? Are you interested in a year-long mentorship program where you will be paired with a graduate student in STEM? Do you have questions about graduate school, research, navigating STEM as a gender marginalized student, or internships?

*Open to undergraduates of all class years with preference given to sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

Grad Students (Potential Mentors)

Are you a current graduate student at Stanford studying or with a background in STEM? Interested in mentoring a current undergraduate student in STEM? Do you have some insights, capacity, experiences you'd like to share as a mentor? Then apply to our STEM mentoring program!
